THE  PORN  FORT

In my youth
in the wet woods
I crawled inside
Like the cave at Lascaux
but filled with centerfolds
And when I was older
I built one.

But now
my wife is a stack
of porno
the feminine side
of a stale marriage
with a staple
in her belly.
( haiku )

and the dried flowers
shudder in a winter breeze-
long shadows at night
CLEARCUT

I camped a clearcut
where atop the razor's edge
I see what they saw
THE   SNAKES

Among the hardest things to spot
are snakes hiding in the grass,
lying in wait
ready to prey on you-
though enjoying your fear,
and killing you already.

THE  VISITOR

Like a polite visitor
I come into your life
telling you
how beautiful it is
& how wonderful you are-
Then I'm gone-
leaving a quiet unease
as if still there.
           THE  STRANGERS

What if Christ was the selfish kid
who didn't share his candy ?

What if he wasn't the sports star,
but stood on the sidelines out of boredom
and watched instead ?

What if he were the stranger, the rogue master,
the masochist, or the reluctant bohemian ?

What if he lived in Idaho, or in a basement-
and said little, & listened to drunks ?

What if he bummed cigarettes,  kited checks,
lived on credit, or accepted free beer ?

What if he drank from a can, didn't put
the seat up, or forgot your name ?

What if he had been discoverd 1,000 times
and was left for dead again & again ?
Would you relate to him then ?
THE  DARK  HARBOR

All these loves
still have harbor
in my head.

Those broken hearts
my tragedies
moored there
always.

And while they are
behind these eyes
I am in
over my head.

So I can only
gasp for air
but never breathe.

And I am drowning
in that dark harbor
deep & alone
inside my own skull.
